Obituary of Michel Edward Mills

Michel (Mike) Edward Mills 1953-2023 Michel Edward Mills passed away on August 25,2023 in Salt Lake City, Utah after a long battle with Dementia. Michel was a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and son. He was born on May 18, 1953 in Ft. Eustis, Virginia to Edward James Mills and Nathel Yaussi Mills. Mike grew up in Kearns, Utah where he attended Kearns High School. He joined the United States Army at the age of seventeen and was very proud of the ten years he served in the military. After leaving the military he worked at the Utah State Prison and then at Dugway Proving Grounds as a Police Officer. In his later years he worked in Corrections and Security. Mike loved the mountains. His favorite past time was to go fishing, but he also loved to hunt, camp, play darts, and play pool. He married Claudia Robinson in 1973 and together they had five children, Melinda, Kimberly, Clinton, Alisha, and David. They were later divorced. He married Michele Midkiff in 1986 and they had one son together, Jeremy. They were later divorced. Michel is survived by his children, Melinda (Charles), Kimberly (Patrick), Clinton (Jaci), Alisha (Kurtis), David (Alyssa), and Jeremy. His grandchildren, Abbigail, Ian, Kaitlynn, Eric, Braden, Richard, Whitney, Chatlin, Hannah, and Theodore as well as five great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Gary Mills, Lee Ann Goodsell, Sharri Winkelkotter, and step-siblings Doug Humphreys, Vickie Stevenson, and Debbie Alexander. Mike had a special bond with Vickie, she would talk to him multiple times per day and could always calm him down when he was anxious. Michel is preceded in death by his father Edward Mills, his mother Nathel Yaussi Mills, and his stepmother Colleen Mills. A Celebration of Life will be held for anyone who would like to honor Mike.
