Obituary of Sun Jae Kang

1987 - 2023 Riverton, UT- Our beloved Sun Jae Kang passed away on January 13th 2023, due to cardiac arrest connected to his life-long struggle with heart problems. Anyone who knew Sunny knew that he had the brightest smile and could light up the room. He loved playing video games and watching movies. When his family would get together they could always count on hearing Sunny loudly singing along with Disney movies or cheering for the action scenes. He loved eating cake and would often request to have his birthday every few months so he could have an excuse to blow out the candles. Sunny always made us laugh and smile with his antics; and his infectious energy followed him everywhere. He didn't like being confined and would often leave to explore the neighborhood. He became a neighborhood celebrity as people all around would help him get home. Sunny loved being part of the family and loved talking to us about his dinosaurs and Pokemon. He loved showing us his new video games and would often excitedly grab our arm and pull us into his room to demonstrate. No one could give a hug like Sunny could. When he wrapped his arms around you it was clear that his heart was filled with nothing but love. Sunny struggled his whole life with health problems but it always seemed to bother us more than it bothered him. Sunny just kept on singing and smiling through everything and that kept us going. We would like to express our gratitude to the staff at Primary Children's and the University of Utah hospital who helped take care of him for his whole life. Our lives were better because of Sunny and we miss him dearly. Sunny is survived by his parents, four sisters, and two brothers. We miss you already. Viewing will be at 11:00 am and the funeral services will be held at 12:00p.m. on Saturday, January 21st, 2023, at the Golden Meadows Third Ward, 2750 West 13400 South, Riverton, Utah 84065. Interment- Riverton City Cemetery.
