I'm saddened to hear about the passing of Jeff and send my condolences to all of his family. I didn't know him outside of work so being in a band was a little shocking, haha. Got to love the 80's. What I do know is he was very dedicated to his job and did great at it! He seemed so serious all time and then all of sudden you'd get this huge smile or laugh out of him. I've worked with Jeff I think the whole time he's been here at USANA and to think about all the changes that have happened here with him involved is pretty remarkable. I can only imagine how many projects he was involved with. For me was the new edition to the building, it was massive, the new Mailroom (where I work) and then another new Mailroom: ) not really sure he was so happy about that : ) He really did a great job here at USANA and everybody liked him, and honestly he was already missed. Sending prayers to all who knew and loved him. Candy

Jeff, we always wanted to get together for a good scotch & conversation away from the work, but Time & Health didn’t allow.
I will have one and spill some in your memory. Rock on, buddy, Rock on.
To your family my most sincere condolences as you left us too soon.

I remember being a little girl and having the uncle who was in a rock band with bleach blonde long hair and zebra print pants! One thing I know everyone one thinks of when they think of Uncle Jeff is his guitar and his love for music! Uncle Jeff loved his people and always wanted to make sure that those he loved were happy and healthy. From the time I first had a cell phone, not a birthday went by that I did not receive a Happy Birthday text from Uncle Jeff, including this last July when his health was not good, he still did not miss that text! I always looked forward to that simple text and I’m going to miss that come next July. One thing I always remember Uncle Jeff saying to me and I quote, “I’ve always loved you from the first minute I held you, you little shit!” Uncle Jeff was a great example of pushing through trials and making the most of what life has given you. He will be missed by all those whose life’s he touched but it’s comforting to know that he is now free from all his pain and trials. Well done, Uncle Jeff! Love, your niece, Melissa

Q: What will you never forget about Jeffrey?
A: I will never forget Craig telling me about Jeff’s approach to Covid at work. When entering his office, he had a tape measure sitting there extended six feet so that you never forgot the six foot rule. We will never forget you Jeff!

To my Jeff from Dad. I held you in my arms and rocked you to sleep, also sang to you. I helped you to learn to walk, and potty train you. Changed your diapers, taught you how to ride a bike. Protected you from all harm. Gave you the best life love could give to you. We did have our disagreements but overcame those. We had good times and bad times. At the end, I loved you the same as the day you were born. I will miss you, you will be in my heart and mind each and every day. Love your Dad

Jeff was a warrior, plain and simple. No matter the odds he made sure that he was there to fight for what he thought was right, and for his family. I’m personally glad that through the time we spent together we were able to work our some differences, they don’t make men quite like him anymore. Goodbye Jeff, you’ll be missed.

Jeff and I rarely laughed together. We spent most times debating things and I always lost because he was super smart. There was one time when he laughed so hard I have never heard him laugh like that in my life, thats was when I walked through his screen door. He said, " I would bye another screen door just to see that again." Rest in peace Jeff. See you when you wake up. Betty Hauptman.

He Did at Usana, running the maintenence department, I told him he'd find a better job, not to worry! Many camping trip memories, camp fires and bbq.. riding the wave runners. Many gatherings, holidays and birthdays. The one great gathering was in Mesquite where we had a family reunion, it was a good time.Jeff was a very smart guy, I asked him advice Many times about electronics. Jeff will be missed by many!! As Jeff’s sister, I have many memories of him as a child growing up as well as an adult. I remember him being born and was sure he had to have been a girl, having one brother, Greg already. The disappointment was soon forgotten as we all grew to love that happy baby.
He was born in a small southeastern Idaho town of Montpelier to loving parents, Al and Gladys Hayes, a sister, Trecia and a brother, Greg. Even though Jeff was born with a heart defect, he did not let it stop him from living the fullest life he could. He lived in Montpelier until he was twelve surrounded by doting grandparents and cousins. Jeff deemed the nickname of ‘Jeffers’ by his family and it seemed to stick throughout his growing up years. After visiting with him as adults, I would find myself calling him by that name. For some reason, it just seemed to fit. His family has a memory of him playing ‘Underdog’ with his Aunt Maxine while she willingly played ‘Miss Polly’. He moved to Cape Girardeau to live with his dad and step mom Gail and graduated from Cape Girardeau High School. He shared many happy memories of those years spent in Missouri. After school he moved to California to live with his mom and attended Golden Gate State Audio School.
Jeff loved music and worked hard to meet his expected perfection. He took pride in his guitars and loved having them displayed. He played in several bands and made many friends. He is still friends with some of them today. He was so proud of the accomplishments he had made through his music.
Jeff also loved his dogs. He had so many funny stories about them and always had one in his home. He always said that Emmie was his dog. She was by his side all the time.
When Jeff loved, he loved all the way. He was devoted to his family in all aspects. He worried about his wife, son, parents, siblings and niece and nephews. There was never a time that I talked to him that we didn’t talk about all of them and how they were doing. He was so excited when he found out he was going to be a dad. I will never forget his reverence and admiration of that beautiful baby boy that he was so proud of. He would just beam every time he spoke of that son he loved so much.
Jeff had many heart aches and trials but he seemed to get through them every time one would hit. Often times, many would come barreling at him at once. I remember a time when our mom was ill and I told him not to worry about things that he had enough to worry about. He quickly and adamantly came to the defense and said I was not to worry about him - “He was just fine.”
Jeff never missed a birthday wish in all his years. He often times was the first call or text that his family would receive. Having a daughter with health issues, we have spent many hours in a hospital. Each time she was admitted, I received a call from Jeff. He wanted to know how things were and what we needed.
Jeff worked at USANA for several years and was proud of his accomplishments there. He made many friends and valued those friendships. It seemed that wherever Jeff went, he made friendships that he valued.
We were fortunate enough to spend time with Jeff and his family. A recent vacation to Yellowstone has been a comfort memory this past week. He was excited to go and we had some good times. After returning from that trip, his health started to take a dramatic turn. The last couple of years have been hard and I am proud of his forging ahead and desire to live to the fullest he was able.
Jeff and I had some good talks over the past few months and I know of the pain that he suffered. Even though his passing has left a huge hole in our lives and hearts, I know he is now free of pain and reunited with his mom, brother and grandparents.
We will miss you, ‘Jeffers’ but we know you are in a better place. Not good-bye but ‘see you later’.

Uncle Jeff will always be the uncle who crowned me with the nicknames “Prissy Chrissy” and also “Pissy Chrissy” which is so like him! He liked to joke around and he loved his family so much. I remember my Aunt Barbie telling me about how he needed to keep working to keep getting her a specific kind of lotion because he always loved how soft her hands were. I may be remembering this story wrong somewhat but it was something like that and it truly spoke volumes about how much he loved her. RIP Uncle Jeff!! So shred in heaven!!
