15ish years ago, Mark and I were riding mt bikes in neighborhood including Flat Iron. Mark was making race of it while I was lumbering behind at comfortable pace. Top of Ida Lane, Mark was on his back on random lawn hyperventilating. Had to phone Cindy to come collect him and his bike.
Mark was competitive absent competition. I gave him no chase or reason to push so hard that day—- was all self-imposed personal drive.He won the “race” that wasn’t
