Obituary of Margaret Gallegos Higginson

Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Maggie peacefully passed away August 5, 2021 at the age of 71. Maggie was born in Salt Lake City in March 1950. She spent her childhood in Murray, Utah where she graduated from Murray High School. Maggie completed her master’s degree in Elementary Education, at the age of 40. Maggie was a loving school teacher at Whittier Elementary in the Salt Lake City School District for almost 25 years. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, had a strong testimony and looked forward to seeing her loved ones again. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting and embroidery, and was an excellent cook. These past few years she enjoyed playing bingo and doing crafts with her friends at Apple Village Assisted Living. Maggie was a beautiful example of enduring to the end. She was diagnosed with a debilitating disease which caused her a good deal of pain, however through it all she demonstrated the importance of being kind and loving others and never lost her faith and testimony in the Savior Jesus Christ. Her final wishes were to ensure all those she was leaving behind would be healthy and happy without her. Maggie was preceded in death by her husband Tommy L Higginson; her son William R Higginson; her parents Joe E and Dorothy Gallegos, stepfather Arvel Brown and brother-in-laws, Richard L Davis and Harold Higginson Jr. Maggie is survived by her son Samuel J Higginson (Jessica); her grandchildren Riley, Noah and Ryder; and her siblings Michel (Noelle) Duvernois, Mona (Byron) Case, Mary Ann Davis, Becky (Randy) Webster and Carma (Bob) Owen; and brother-in-laws and sister in-law, Robert E Higginson, Colleen Johnson, and Larry Higginson. There will be a private viewing on Monday, August 9, 2021 for family only. A public graveside service will be held Wednesday August 11, 2021 from 12:00-1:00 pm in the Salt Lake City Cemetery. The family would like to thank Bristol Hospice and Apple Village caregivers for their kind and loving care. Maggie will also miss her special friends at assisted living. Everyone there loved Maggie and will miss her beautiful smile. Maggie, you are loved and missed more than you know. You will be in our thoughts always, until we meet again!
