Obituary of Ryan David Halford
Please share a memory of Ryan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
"Papa Bear" passed away on October 14th, 2016 at the young age of 58 after a hard-fought battle with advanced lung cancer. Ryan was born December 13th, 1957 to Dorene and David Halford in Salt Lake City, UT. He leaves behind his amazing wife of 33 years, LuAnn Halford. Ryan has two sons, Zachery (Brook) and Jaron (Whitney) and one daughter, Sara Halford. He was blessed with two families; his mother Dorene and siblings Lisa (Darrell), Eric (Chris) and Curtis; and his step-mother Judy and siblings Darren (Rachel), Shawna (Roger), Jolene (Richard) and Charlie.
Ryan attended Granger High School where he enjoyed track and field, football, and making new friends. He entered active duty in the U.S. Army soon after high school and was proud to have been part of the 2% who served this country in uniform.
Ryan and LuAnn began their grand adventure together in June of 1983. Ryan would often say, "All I wanted to be was Dad" - an adage that defined him over the years. He cherished every dad moment and eventually every grandpa moment as well. He became "Papa Bear" to three grandchildren - Elijah, Justus and Belle. He eagerly awaited the arrival of his fourth grandchild.
"Papa Bear" was a loving, generous, and gregarious man who many joyfully called friend and brother. He was never without a story, anecdote or joke. He served as the Broken Wing Society President and Mr. Fix-it for all who knew him. He will be dearly missed.
Please join us for a memorial service in his honor this Saturday, October 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at Oasis Vineyard Church (1750 W 4160 S) and a celebration of life afterwards at Chris and Eric's house.
