Obituary of David Woolley Larson

October 19, 1987 - January 8, 2020 It is with intense sadness that we announce the early passing of David. David was a passionate person with a creative mind and a light hearted spirit. He loved poetry & calligraphy. He prided himself on his loopy handwriting and worked diligently to make it unique. David also had a creative drawing hobby. He would introduce mixed media to his artwork to instill deeper meaning into them. David enjoyed cooking and gardening. Particularly passionate about potatoes. His silly passion for potatoes was driven by their low cost and the variety of dishes they provide. This exemplifies David’s sense of humor and practicality. David was born October 19, 1987 in Hollywood, Florida to Michelle & Glen Larson. As a child David had a lot of energy. He enjoyed climbing trees, playing sports, and exploring natural areas near his home. He was fiercely questioning and also imaginative. He would create stories for words and sounds. His most famous was “eekonomicalleybochey.” This was the first word in the world according to him and it told the story of the genesis of speech. Someone stubbed their toe and screamed, “Eek!” Which began the word. This snippet is one of many that highlights David’s whimsical mind. As David got older his adventurous spirit grew and his silly nature led to good times and bad. He and some friends explored the woods in our backyard. He enjoyed paintball, riding his bike, and playing as covert ops, mythical heroes, and whatever else his mind could conceive. In High school David was an outgoing, class clown type, that was constantly in trouble. So of course he was popular and made fast friends in almost everyone. In David’s later years he began struggling with an addiction to meth and spent the majority of his time in jail. Through his struggles he kept a positive attitude and when he was around his goofy spirit was always on display. David would speak fondly of his memories of childhood and his desire to keep his relationships with his family strong and to work on them in the future. He always had big plans for his life, and spoke about them. From leading a church to starting a commune to founding businesses to publishing a book. He always had a dozen big goals to talk about. He was particularly interested in strength training and choreography. He never missed an opportunity to show off his most recent routine that was some mixture of gymnastics, dance, and martial arts thrown in for style. He never considered limiting himself to one thing. He started learning spanish because he didn’t want to be confined to communicating with English speakers. He was accepting of anyone and eager to learn more about them. His religious leanings were rekindled as well. Often as a child David would tell his dad, “Dad, you’re too churchy for me.” referencing Glen’s passion for the LDS church teachings and history. Well, as these things often go, David began studying scripture and became passionate about the LDS Church doctrine once again. David’s plans and hopes of sobriety ultimately did not come to fruition. We are saddened by the situation that led to his death. We are left without words or explanations. We hope to remember his charisma, his dreams, and his creativity. We will also remember his struggles, as they as much define him as the good parts.
