Obituary of Dave Naylor

Wallace “David” Naylor, 70, our loving father, grandfather, brother and friend departed from this earthly life on December 22nd, 2019. He was born to Wallace E. Naylor and Wilma J. Mackay on May 15, 1949 in Salt Lake City, Utah. David proudly served in the Armed Forces for six years. He worked with his father in many Safeway stores across the Wasatch Front, he also worked in Valley Camp Coal Mine and Pacific States Pipe Plant, but the job he loved the most was as a woodworker, building many beautiful creations in the homes of many. David married Karen “Denise” Jensen on April 16th, 1971 in the Salt Lake City Temple. He was a faithful and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. David is remembered for his warm smile, tender hug and making others feel welcome as they arrived at church each Sunday. He was loved by all those who were near him. He touched so many lives. His faith in his church was unparalleled. At one point, he challenged himself to read the book of Mormon one hundred times in a year; he easily surpassed his goal. He was incredibly devout to his Heavenly Father and was excited to meet him again one day. He wasn’t perfect, he knew, and was aware of his faults and did his best to reconcile those while he was still here. On the day of his passing, with tears in his eyes, he told his loved ones that he was not in pain and he was not afraid for the next step in his journey. One of his last thoughts was that he was ecstatic to think that he was going to meet his Father in Heaven again; he had so many questions for him, but more than anything, he hoped that he was proud of him. From a young age, Dave was always looking for his next adventure. He could fix anything. He loved woodworking and building his next project. Dave also loved the outdoors and spending time camping or riding ATV’s with his family and the fur babies in their special ride along trailer up the canyons. Dave experienced much pain as his body failed him over the years but it never stopped him from trying to make someone else’s day with a smile or a story. David is survived by his two children, Heather Naylor and Travis (Laura) Naylor; three grandchildren from Travis and shared an incredible bond with his granddaughter and best friend Akaylea Berry (Heather). He is also survived by his sisters, Kathy (Rick) Oaks and Shauna (John) Allen. David is preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Denise.
