Obituary of Bryan Lee Matern
Bryan was born to Clarence and Maurine Deverall Matern 8-2-1954. He worked on the railroad, drove truck, and was a shop manager. He loved to play his guitar and sing, alone, or with anyone who knew a country western song . His grandchildren really loved it .He enjoyed going to the sand dunes and driving his dune buggy with Kay Drain and children and grandchildren. He loved camping. It was his getaway. His favorite place of all was Yellow Pine. He really enjoyed his relationship with his brother Jim. Jim was always there for Bryan. They both enjoyed anything to do with astrology. Bryan was outgoing and loved to converse with anyone. Bryan was there to care for his father and mother until he became too ill. He missed his mother very much. He had a lot of medical problems that caused him a lot of pain. It made it hard for him to do a lot of things. But he never gave up. He was always very good to his grandchildren. They all loved his lifesavers. He always had a pocket full! He taught them many things. Some to swim, some to shoot, some to fish, some to play ball , or fly kites, among many other things. They all loved their Papa. He had a good relationship with his grandson Mikie, who he helped raise. Bryan and Mikie were very close. They helped each other through a lot of hard times. He had good relations with Kay Drain and Liz Matern. Liz was a very close companion to Bryan, and they were together to the end. He is survived by siblings Carole Larson, Geri Vodak, and Jim Matern . Son Travis Matern, daughter Misty, stepsons Mike and Scott Drain. Daughters Gina and Stacy. He had 21 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. We will all miss you and we all love you very much.
