Obituary of Karen Sue Hodgson
Karen Sue Hodgson, wife, mother, singer, artist, died Sunday, April 23, in her home surrounded by her family. She was 73 years old. Born January 14, 1944 in Bloomington, Illinois to Joseph Hyrum VanSeters and Winifred Marie Hickey VanSeters. She was the oldest of six. She graduated from Jordan High School in 1962. She married her high school sweetheart, Edgar Dilworth Hodgson III, on June 16, 1966 in the Salt Lake Temple. Growing up, she took her job as a big sister seriously; she always cared for and protected her siblings. She carried that love as she became a mother, and was always there for her children.
Proceeded in death by her husband, her father, her mother, two brothers (Chad and Matt VanSeters), and a sister (Josie Conlon). She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Eddie Hodgson, Matthew (Kim Ewing-) Hodgson, Constance (Jared) Watkins; four grand children, Sidni (Chris) Walser, Ethan Hodgson, Colby Hodgson, and Jared Seth Watkins Jr; two sisters, Brook (Terry) Mercer, and Valorie (James) Gillespie; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins that loved her dearly and will miss Karen greatly.
There will be a wake for Karen at her home tonight at 6pm. The funeral services will be Saturday at 2:30 pm at the LDS chapel at 5107 S. 5600 W. in Salt Lake City. You may visit with the family from 1:00 to 2:00.
