Obituary of Susan Gaye Jenkins
Susan Gaye Jenkins passed away peacefully in her Taylorsville, Utah home on April 11, 2017, after a long & courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born on October 5, 1961 in Pocatello, Idaho, to Willis Jenkins & Ellen Harris. She raised a talented & accomplished son, Sam Daoud. Sam is currently enrolled at the University of Utah, in the Musical Theater Program. Susan was a strong advocate for achieving one's education, especially for her son & many nieces & nephews. She was fiercely independent & encouraged others to pursue their own path. Susan's many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews remember her infectious laugh, weekend sleepovers, summer visits & her panache for midnight McDonald's runs. Susan's career as a dental hygienist spanned over 30 years, including Dental Hygiene Program Coordinator & Assistant Professor at Salt Lake Community College. Susan was known as an intelligent, empowered woman, an advocate for the disenfranchised, & equality for all. She loved everyone with open arms, her door was always open, & she lent a listening ear, free of judgement, at all times.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the LDS church located at 1555 Lovely Road, Taylorsville, Utah 84123.
The family of Susan Jenkins wishes to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Nitin B. Chandramouli, the staff of Home Care Assistance, & the many family, friends, & neighbors who helped to care for her.
