Obituary of Steven Dean Miller

In Loving Memory Steve "Dub" Miller passed peacefully on Thursday, September 8, 2016 after complications associated with COPD. He is survived by his wife, Kandi Miller; his grandson, Stevie Miller; his step-daughter, Rory Hertzfeld; and his niece, Jessica Goff. He was a man of many interests with encyclopedic knowledge. He read voraciously, aced every crossword puzzle, and kept up with what was going on in the world around him. He loved his American adventures, from camping in the southwest to exploring the metropolitan cities of the coasts. Steve was a man of great compassion with a generous spirit. Those who knew him experienced this first-hand. When you felt joy, he shared that joy, when you achieved success, he beamed with pride, when you felt sorrow or defeat, he listened, sympathized, and comforted with the utmost sincerity. Steve's friendship was one to cherish as he would be there through the thick and thin. Steve deeply treasured the relationship with his grandson, Stevie, his pride and joy. For him, the best part of being retired was the freedom to volunteer at his grandson's school, North Star Elementary, with the PTA, Community Council, and wherever he could offer support. Steve was devastated by the recent death of his son, Mikel Shane Miller, shortly after a summer camping trip. He reflected it was the best three days spent as father and son- a true bonding experience. To impart Steve's wisdom, he'd give this advice: Don't' smoke, Adopt a pet, Pay it forward, See the world, and Take care of mother Earth.
