Obituary of Willem (Will) Marinus DeHeide
Please share a memory of Willem (Will) to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Our loving husband, son, brother, uncle, in-law Willem (Will) Marinus DeHeide, 36, of Taylorsville died Thursday, March 23, 2017. Will was born May 2, 1980 in Salt Lake City to Willem (Bill) Marinus DeHeide and Judy Shelton. Older sister Erica Shelton loved her new baby brother. Will looked remarkably like his father from infancy, and the two were close throughout their lives. They spent a lot of time camping together and enjoying nature, particularly the national parks and monuments in Utah and Nevada.
Will attended Granger High School and later pursued a passion in culinary arts at Salt Lake Community College, becoming a certified culinarian and worked in the restaurant business throughout his adulthood. He started cooking at Billy’s Dart Club, where his father introduced him to dart throwing. Will and his father threw darts together for many years, winning occasionally for hat trick pins and other things. Will worked in chef and management positions at Village Inn, Flemmings, Iggy’s and Applebees. He met the one and only love of his life Tiffany English while working at Village Inn in 2000. They were married May 15, 2008. They lived with Will’s father, taking care of him through a long struggle with cancer until his death in 2013. Will learned to play chess from his chess enthusiast father, and Will passed this love of chess on to his nephews. They all loved playing chess every time they were together. He was surrounded by many cousins and in-laws who loved him throughout his life, and he loved his nephews.
He is survived by his wife Tiffany English, mother Judy Shelton (Tom) Tuckey, sister Erica (Justin) Myers, nephews Dustin (Cassandra) Johnson, Tristan and Andrew Myers, grandmother Jean Shelton, great-nieces, many aunts, uncles, cousins and many in-laws who loved him as their own. Preceded in death by father Willem (Bill) Marinus DeHeide.
No services will be held, a celebration of life will take place at a later date.
